Since the government work report of this year proposing for the first time to implement the Made in China 2025, the State Council Executive Meeting on March 25 determined again to accelerate the implementation, with 10 major areas as the key development directions including power equipment, marine engineering equipment and advanced rail transportation equipment. This indicates a new round of industrial revolution that is coming to us, giving a rise to a big breakthrough and accelerating in manufacturing transformation and upgrading. The wire and cable industry shall therefore follow the intelligent manufacturing-led new industrial revolution, speeding up the transformation and upgrading to seize the opportunities in the international industrial competition, and take the initiative to seek future development.
China’s Made in China 2025 coincides with Germany's "Industry 4.0" program, and the United States "Re-industrialization" that both promote intelligent manufacturing-led new industrial revolution, a direction of future development in China.
The State Council Executive Meeting stressed that, it needs to follow the "Internet+" trends with a deep integration of information technology and industrialization as the focus, strengthening the industrial base capabilities, improving the technological level and product quality, promoting intelligent manufacturing and green manufacturing, pushing forward an integrated growth of productive services and manufacturing, and enhancing the manufacturing level and core competitiveness.
As the upgraded version of the integration, “Internet+” represents the core of the current information technology which may promote a combination of mobile Internet, cloud computing, big data, IOT and modern manufacturing to propel "Made in China" towards" Intelligently Made in China". The high concern by the government has provided a good breeding ground for the traditional manufacturing industry’s intelligent production by reducing the policy risks, and offering higher security and development certainty.
According to the reports from official media, after the application of the industrial Internet, enterprise efficiency will increase by about 20%, while the costs can decrease by 20%, and energy saving & emission reduction may fall by about 10%. For the next 20 years, China's industrial Internet development would have created approximately at least $ 3 trillion of GDP increment
Made in China 2025 is the result from nearly 3-year work of over 150 experts at Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It is reported that, China may need to spend three decades in completing a transition from a manufacturing giant to a manufacturing power, during which the traditional manufacturing concepts, models, and driving force will be totally changed and reconstructed.
As a traditional manufacturing industry, the wire and cable industry in China is faced a lack of stamina for further development as the market is flooded with cut-throat competition, with increasing plight of rough manufacturing process. Hence, the wire and cable industry is required to seize the opportunity of realizing upgrading by relying on intelligent manufacturing and a global vision.
With an accelerated growth of new industrialization and new urbanization process, the importance of environmental protection and a low-carbon economy has become growingly highlighted. The planning for the key industries supported greatly by the country including New energy, UHV, smart grid, 4G networks, marine engineering, high-speed railways and urban rail transit has been gradually released, meaning more opportunities and challenges for the future development of the wire and cable industry.
The wire and cable industry needs to actively explore healthy and sustainable development under the support of Made in China 2025, and constantly enhance the intrinsic motivation for transformation and upgrading, and leading innovation.
